John 4:27-38
In this passage, there is a story within the story. Most focus on the Samaritan woman, but it’s also about Jesus’ disciples. Jesus was not only reaching the town, He was also reaching his own disciples.
Kairos time is when circumstances and possibility come together. It does not sit and wait for us, and it requires a special kind of leader to maximize it.
In the text, Jesus was in the midst of a kairos moment, but the disciples missed it. In fact, they kept interrupting the moment, offering food etc. Kairos moments need kairos leaders.
Kairos leaders know their priorities. They know what they need to do, and what not to do. They are willing to pay a price to seize the moment.
Jesus said, “I have food that you know nothing about.” Nothing wrong with eating food, but there is a greater agenda at hand. It’s about prioritizing. Kairos moments require swift action and cannot afford to be missed.
Verse 35 says, “Don’t you have a saying, ‘It’s still four months until harvest’? I tell you, open your eyes and look at the fields! They are ripe for harvest.” Kairos says, “Look now!!” When God blesses a time, there is no distance between sowing and reaping.
Kairos leaders also know how to create healthy partnership— sowers and reapers working together. We cannot have a divided church asking why the government is not united.
Our moment has come, and we must be ready. The nations desperately needs leaders who take action.
